Thousands of learners who completed their National Senior Certificate examinations in 2023 are awaiting the release of their results, which is due for 19 January 2024, followed by the annual Matric Awards Ceremony hosted by the Northern Cape department of education.  The matric pass rate for the province gradually increased over the past three years. In 2020 the province had a pass rate of 68.1%, followed by a pass rate of 71.4% in 2021, and lastly with a pass rate of 74.2% in 2022. The department says that it will release an official statement next week on the upcoming release of the results of the NSC and its expected pass rate for 2023.
