A manhunt has been launched for gunmen who allegedly ambushed and robbed Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga and two of her VIP protectors on the N3 between Vosloorus and Heidelberg near Johannesburg yesterday. It's understood that the minister and her security detail had stopped on the side of the highway in the early hours of Monday morning to change a punctured tyre, when three armed men emerged from the bushes nearby. The incident involving Sindisiwe Chikunga Minister of Transport, has been confirmed by the Department of Transport.  According to head of communications, Collen Msibi, the Minister's car tyres were punctured by spikes, which caused the vehicle to stop and allowed the thieves to rob the occupants of their valuables. Spokersperson of the department of transport, safety and liaison in the Northern Cape, Renny Andrias cautioned drivers to be vigilant on the road as the festive season draws closer. INSERT (Renny)
