SAHRC Strategic Stakeholder Engagement with the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature

The Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) had a major discussion about the state of human rights in the Northern Cape yesterday, August 29, 2024. Chris Nissen convened the meeting and, along with Speaker of the Legislature Newrene Klaaste, gave the opening comments. Information indicates that by stating the goals and purposes of this strategic stakeholder engagement, Chairperson Nissen set the tone for the day. According to a statement Anthony Wynaard delivered a perceptive talk about the state of human rights in the region. The leader of the Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape Harold Mcgluwa members of the legislature must understand their duties first before fulfilling their political agendas. Both institutions pledged to intensify their cooperation to enhance the human rights environment in the Northern Cape, marking a successful conclusion to the meeting. In order to continue this crucial effort, it was also suggested that more meetings be scheduled with other Chapter 9 institutions.
