The Northern cape Department Of Education took a delegation of RCL learners from 5 districts, accompanied by two Teacher Laison Officers and one Provincial Coordinator to attend a two day Department of Basic Education National RCL Conference in Benoni, Gauteng from 27 - 28 June 2024. The department provides in an official statement that the purpose of this conference was to instill and impart leadership skills onto the attending learners. The department says that through the feedback received by the learners it was evident that these RCL Leaders would be more than willing to play a meaningful and active role in all school level structures and other initiatives that give them a democratic right of belonging and participation that will contribute towards honing their leadership skills and contribute towards improved learning and teaching, and learner performance in schools.
