SALGA in the Northern Cape is conducting support sessions for the benefit of local municipalities. Salga provides in an official statement that they have prioritized support to municipal communications as part of ensuring that the communications functioning is effective and that they are able to execute the role of constantly informing communities within its jurisdiction. Salga provides that the first session was held with Gamagara Local Municipality and was also attended by the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality and the agenda of these sessions were focused on Development of Communication Strategy, Development of Communications Policy, Branding and Corporate Identity Manual, their Annual Communications Plan, Media Training for Political Principals and Revenue Enhancement Campaigns. Salga says these sessions will continue with the other local municipalities in ensuring a strengthened local government communication system and act as a build up to the 2026 local government elections.
