THE NCC TO CRISS CROSS THE COUNTRY TO ENSURE THAT UNSAFE AND EXPIRED GOODS ARE REMOVED FROM SHELVES

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has initiated compliance inspections to remove unsafe and expired products from retail shelves, aiming to maintain consumer trust in the food items they purchase. The NCC advises consumers to check date labels (best before/use by dates) to avoid health risks associated with these products. Acting Commissioner Hardin Ratshisusu emphasized that not providing sales records strips consumers of their right to return defective goods. He reminded suppliers to adhere to the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) regulations. He says the NCC is committed to promoting a fair market by addressing suppliers who fail to comply. He says it will also continue to collaborate with stakeholders and conduct visits across the country to enforce compliance. Ratshisusu says non-compliant goods will be confiscated to protect consumers, and additional enforcement actions will be implemented. The NCC reaffirmed its dedication to working with stakeholders nationwide to ensure legal compliance.
