A 31 year old man Garvey De Koker was recently sentenced to 5 years imprisonment in the Calvinia regional court for sexual assault. Police spokesperson Lieutenant colonel Sergio Kock says the incident happened on the 22nd August 2020 at half past eight in the evening when a 20 year old woman and a friend was walking from a Sports bar in Loeriesfontein when she was accosted by the accused. Kock says the suspect allegedly made sexual advances to the victim, grabbed her arm and touched her indecently on her private parts. He says the accused was sentenced on the 27th June 2024 to 5 years imprisonment which was suspended for a period of 5 years. Kock says he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
