As per data from StatsSA Alcohol is the number 1 drug of abuse in South Africa. Families often feel helpless and overwhelmed by the emotional and financial toll it takes. To elaborate more, Suleen Julies community development worker from the Northern Cape Alcohol and Drug office located in Upington, elaborates in Afrikaans...INSERT[ALCOHOL] Initiatives like expanding support groups and counseling services, increased funding for addiction treatment centers, and education and prevention efforts... INSERT[REHAB] She concludes by noting that if communities come together to support one another, spread awareness, and push for change, people can fight drug addiction and give hope to those who are suffering.
