Drug
Awareness Week started yesterday 24 June 2024 highlighting the ongoing battle
against substance abuse with millions of South Africans affected by this phenomenon.
As per data from StatsSA Alcohol is the number 1 drug of abuse in South Africa.
Families
often feel helpless and overwhelmed by the emotional and financial toll it

development worker from the Northern Cape Alcohol and Drug office located in Upington,

Initiatives
like expanding support groups and counseling services, increased funding for
addiction treatment centers, and education and prevention efforts... INSERT[REHAB]
She concludes by noting that if
communities come together to support one another, spread awareness, and push
for change, people can fight drug addiction and give hope to those who are
suffering.
