The National and Provincial Treasuries yesterday facilitated the RT29 Transversal Workshop for all municipalities in the province. In an official statement treasury provides that the rationale behind the RT29 Transversal Contractwas based on all municipalities having to upgrade their smart metering facilities by November 2024, therefore the aim of he workshop was to take all municipalities through the process to be followed on participation for the transversal contract as well as providing the implementation guide to all the Northern Cape municipalities. They further add that the purpose hereof is to allow for a standard and well articulated understanding for all municipalities who will be or might be interested in participating in the RT29 Transversal Contract pertaining to pre-paid smart metring. Treasury says that part of the activities of the day were that approved service providers for the smart metering process were invited to present their various products and these are the only service providers who will be providing this service to the province, these service providers including African Metering Solutions, MTN, Vodacom, Landis + Gyr, Conlog, Cigicell (Pty) Ltd & Utilities World as well as Isandiso Pipelines & Engineering.
