Police in the ZF Mgcawu district continue with
efforts to minimize the space for criminal activities. Police spokesperson sergeant
Omphile Masegela says Upington police border and K9 unit reacted to information
about the alleged sale of illicit cigarettes at one of the shops in Upington on
Friday, the 14th June 2024. Masegela says they operationalized
the information and the shop was visited for inspection. She says during
inspection police found cigarettes that were hidden in a storeroom at the back
of the premises. According to information, the owner could not provide invoices
for the cigarettes and 153 master cases cigarettes to the value of R 3 901
500-00 were seized.
