The
Department of Water and Sanitation in its recent report, announced a
significant increase in surface water storage in the Northern Cape, with
reservoirs reaching 78.6% of their full supply capacity. The department says other dams such as the
Vander Kloof Dam, the Vaal River system, and the Spitskop Dam on the Harts
River show significant recovery as well.
Spokesperson
Amogelang Moholoeng for the department elaborates more.............INSERT[WATER&SANI]
Moholoeng says, the
Boegoeberg Dam in the Orange River System is 105.8% full, and four sluice gates
have been opened for maintenance. The Department of Water and Sanitation
advises Farmers along the Orange River System should take precautions as water
levels rise. While these are significant improvements, residents are still
encouraged to conserve water, protect infrastructure, and avoid vandalism.
