The Namakwa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is the latest
edition to the countries already 11 SEZ’s located in different provinces. The
Namakwa SEZ to be located in Aggeneys, a mining-town in the Northern Cape,
recently launched by Premier Dr Zamani Saul, will see the unlocking of mining
beneficiation, production of green hydrogen, infrastructure development,
renewable energy and agro-processing in the province. Premier Saul amongst
others stated that the establishment of the Namakwa SEZ is a critical step
towards the green transformation industry, grid, and mobility. He said that
this aligns perfectly with the Northern Cape Green Hydrogen Strategy,
positioning the province at the forefront of the global green economy. Saul
expressed that sustainable industrial pathways will be pioneered through this
SEZ that will not only boost the economic landscape but also contribute to
global efforts in combating climate change.
