The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, will bring various backyard farmers together tomorrow in Galeshewe, Kimberley. The department stated that the purpose of the farmer’s market day is to create a platform for them to market and sell their agricultural produce. Furthermore it enables farmers to generate an income in order to ensure food security and sustainable livelihoods and also seeks to encourage them that farming is a business and must be treated as such. The department also states that the move seeks to address challenges farmers are f acing hence such a platform for them to market their own products.
