The Northern Cape Department Education
says over the past seven weeks over six new schools and two brand new Hostels were
handed over in the province. The department has also officiated two sod turning
ceremonies. According to the department the school infrastructure projects
represent a total investment in Education of just over R900 million. The department
states that infrastructure projects of this nature aim to reduce overcrowding
in schools, eradicate inappropriate schools structures (asbestos) and create a
conducive environment for quality public education. The department says that education
in the province is on a positive trajectory to ensure universal access to
education and improve the quality of public education as every child is a
national asset.
