The executive mayor of the Namakwa district
municipality, Mervin Cloete who formed part of the virtual delegation during
the launch of the Namakwa special economic zone, praised all role players for
their contributions towards the realization of what he regarded as a significant
milestone for the district and the province as whole. Cloete stated that this
development will be to the benefit of communities and businesses. The MEC responsible
for Finance, Economic Development, and Tourism in the province, Abraham Vosloo at
his turn said that the SEZ is more than just an economic project as it will
change the socio-economic landscape of the province for generations to come. He
said that this Special Economic Zone is a roadmap for a better future, a symbol
of opportunity, and will be harnessing the rich resources of the province and
transforming them into a powerful engine for economic growth.
