The strike of the South African commercial, catering
and allied workers union (SACCAWU) in Upington that was supposed to take place today,
the 23rd May 2024 has been postponed for 2 weeks. This after the
workers of Upington Quick Spar went to the SACCAWU offices to raise concerns
over their working conditions. SACCAWU organizer in Upington Shadrack Segola confirm
that the strike has been temporary suspended depending on the employer to
correct the conditions at work. He says if the conditions are not changed the
strike will resume after the expiry of the next 2 weeks. Segola says the following.......“Insert†(UNION)
A representative at Quick spar did not want to comment saying he will consult the companies legal representative to comment on
behalf of the company.
