Shova Kalula Initiative Provides Bicycles to Students in Northern Cape

On May 16, 2024, students at Lutzburg Intermediate School near Kakamas in the ZF Mgcawu District received bicycles as part of the Shova Kalula initiative by the department of transport, safety and liaison. According to a statement, together with the bicycles, learners also received school uniforms and stationery packs. The statement says, the initiative, supported by the Department of Transport, Safety, and Liaison, aims to promote education and help students attend school. Nomandla Bloem, the MEC for Transportation, Safety, and Liaison, and HOD Rodney Pieterse carried out the program by delivering Shova Kalula Bicycles to Veritas Secondary School and Alphas Primary School in De Aar, both located in the Pixley Ka Seme District. Bloem encouraged students to prioritize their education and follow traffic laws whenever they ride the Shova Kalula bicycles.
