Derrick Brussel, a 43-year-old man from Kakamas, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison by the Kakamas regional court. The sentencing occurred on Friday, May 17, 2024, for the rape of two women. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela, the incident took place on November 26, 2023. He allegedly stabbed one of the women with a bottle neck and forced them to a nearby school, where he tied them up and raped them. Brussel pleaded guilty to both counts of rape and was also convicted for assault.
