Communication and Information System says the country will mark Africa Month
and Africa Day in May 2024, along with the rest of the continent. According to
the GCIS, the month is an opportunity to promote African unity, deeper regional
integration and recommit Africa to a common destiny. Furthermore, Africa month
and Africa day are moments for the continent to pause, reflect, and celebrate
the countries unique African identity and cultural expression. GCIS states that
the celebrations also coincide with the commemoration of 30 Years of Freedom in
South Africa. This year Africa Month will be commemorated under the theme:
“Celebrating 30 Years of Freedom: Building a Better Africa and a Better
World’’. Planned activities over the month will culminate with Africa Day
celebrations on 25 May 2024.
