Unemployment Crisis Hits Hard in Northern Cape and Among Graduates

Recent data from Statistics South Africa shows that the Northern Cape recorded one of the highest unemployment rates in the country at over 35%. This is higher than the national average of 32.9%. The Department of Employment and Labour in Upington urges unemployed individuals including graduates, to register on the department's database or come to their offices for help with employment. Bertwin Van Wyk acting deputy director of the department elaborated as follows... INSERT[LABOUR]    He adds that, to understand available skills better and match them with suitable positions the department is committing to increase training and placement initiatives, working closely with the public and private sectors to create more employment opportunities.
