The South African
Schools Choral Eisteddof (SASCE)district elimination was taken forth in the John
Taolo Gaetsewe and Francis Baard districts yesterday respectively. Choristers from
these districts competed to ensure a place in the provincial SASCE which is due
from 11-13 July 2024. Patrick Mlotha, a member of the provincial coordinating committee
says that to form part of a choir requires absolute discipline which becomes inherited
by these learners. Mlotha says that choirs form part of extracurricular
activities, and it is of importance that learners be part of these activities to
create a balance between academics and the aforementioned. Meanwhile,
choristers from districts where the eliminations has already concluded are
underway with preparations for the provincial knock-outs.
