The Sol Plaatjie University says, following a protest that flared up on Monday morning, the situation at the University is now calmer. Kashini Maistry, Acting Director: Institutional Advancement in the Vice-Chancellor's office says on April 26, 2024, the SRC petitioned the University Council to reconsider the move to a totally outsourced catering model. She says this catering model suggests converting the university's dining halls into retail outlets that are operated by outsourced service providers.
