The South African Weather Service warns against damaging winds

The South African Weather Service is warning against damaging winds in many parts of the country today. The weather service says these may result in difficult driving conditions and create a bigger risk for the rapid spreading of fires. The affected areas for the warning include Prieska, De Aar, Kareeberg, Postmansburg, and Groblershoop. The weather service also warns against veld fire conditions in other parts of the province including Hopetown, Hotazel, and Upington. Residents are urged to be vigilant during this time and avoid leaving open fires unattended whereas motorists are also urged to not throw cigarette buds out of moving vehicles.
