The official opening of the
Greenpoint Primary School in Kimberley was officiated this morning by Premier
Dr Zamani Saul and the MEC responsible for education in the province, Zolile
Monakali. The department says that the construction of this new school forms
part of plans to eradicate asbestos school infrastructure in the province as the
asbestos structures are considered to be a health hazard to learners and
educators. The school is equipped with modern facilities aimed to enhance
quality learning and teaching. During the opening remarks it was reiterated
that education remains a cornerstone in the development of communities through
the enhancement of the overall infrastructure of the school. A call was made by
the premier to the entire school community to take ownership of the school in
taking care of this new state of the art building. The recent opening of the
Rooirand Primary School precedes the opening of this school.
