Carnarvon regional court sentenced a 31 year old man for assaulting his 23-year-old life partner
Pixley ka Seme district commissioner major general Nomana Mtukushe welcomed the conviction and sentencing of a 31-year-old man who appeared at Carnarvon regional court for assaulting his 23-year-old life partner on the 17th August 2026. Police spokesperson Lieutenant colonel Thabo Litabe says the accused was convicted of common assault following an incident that occurred in Carnarvon on the 3rd January 2026. The court heard that the victim was visiting the father of her three children when the accused allegedly assaulted her without provocation. Litabe says the accused was sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, on condition that he is not convicted of a similar offence during the period of suspension.
