The Green Connection Calls for Clarity on Disaster Relief Funding

The Green Connection has welcomed the Minister’s Budget Speech, which highlighted the availability of R1.7 billion for disaster emergency responses and R4 billion to address backlogs related to natural disasters.

However, the environmental advocacy group has raised concerns over the lack of clear solutions for municipalities to access these funds efficiently. There is a call for more solution-oriented budget allocations, particularly for past disasters, as well as transparent processes for municipalities to access emergency relief.
