Empowering Young Minds: ZF Mgcawu District Municipality and LGSETA Join Forces
The ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, under the leadership of Executive Mayor Maryna Basson, has partnered with the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) to equip 35 young learners with skills in Water Waste Treatment and Process Control. A statement indicates that the majority of the learners, aged 18 to 35, are young women.
The National Water Waste Treatment & Process Controller Learnership program aims to provide sustainable career opportunities in Water Management. Having completed four months of theoretical training, the learners are now transitioning into the practical phase, where they will gain eight months of hands-on experience at the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality.
This initiative has been recognized as a crucial investment in both the youth and their communities. By equipping them with essential industry skills, the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality and LGSETA are fostering long-term employment prospects and strengthening the water management sector.
As the learners embark on this next phase, they have received words of encouragement from Executive Mayor Basson and Acting Municipal Manager, Andre Phete. The Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality has also been acknowledged for its support in facilitating their practical training.
