Newly Promoted SAPS Officers Receive Ranks in Kimberley

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, officially conferred ranks on newly promoted officers during an extended Provincial Crime Combatting Forum management meeting at the provincial headquarters in Kimberley on Monday, March 10, 2025.

According to SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Litabe, the promotions took effect on March 1, 2025. Among the key appointments, Colonel Itumeleng Pudule has been named Provincial Head of Employee Health and Wellness Services, while Lieutenant Colonel Mosimaneotsile Letsapa has been appointed as the Station Commander of Kathu. Lieutenant Colonel Bakang Kgwadi has taken up the role of Station Commander of Keimoes.

Additionally, several officers were promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as station commanders in various areas. Captain Tebogo Oliphant has been appointed to Plooysburg, Captain Renard Setlhabi to Onseepkans, and Captain Anel Thiro to Marydale, among others.

SAPS has emphasized the importance of these appointments in strengthening law enforcement efforts across the province. Further details on the promotions and their impact on crime combatting strategies are expected to be outlined in due course.
