Augrabies Falls Experiences Increased Water Levels
Recent rainfall has led to a rise in water levels at Augrabies Falls National Park, with the current flow reaching 109 cubic meters per second (cumecs)—a significant increase from the usual range of 30 to 50 cumecs. This surge has caused the Falls to roar louder than usual, drawing attention from visitors and locals alike.
Genevieve Maasdorp from SANParks has confirmed that while the water levels are slightly higher than normal, this temporary increase is not a sign of flooding. The flow is expected to stabilize soon.
Meanwhile, businesses and tourism operators in the area have welcomed the increased water levels, as the breathtaking sight of the powerful Falls attracts more visitors. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure visitor safety and environmental sustainability.
