The MEC for
Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development, and Land Reform, Mase
Manopole, today presided over the symbolic handover of the Presidential
Employment Stimulus (PES) Package, at the Agricultural Hub in Heuningvlei, Kuruman. The Department stated that the PES program is
a critical government intervention designed to bolster household food security,
enhance agricultural productivity, and create employment opportunities.
The program
prioritizes women, youth, people with disabilities, child-headed households,
and military veterans, ensuring equitable access to agricultural opportunities.
MEC Manopole emphasised the importance of government support in sustaining
rural livelihoods and strengthening food value chains. The PES will be implemented
across all five districts of the Northern Cape, reinforcing efforts to
strengthen local food production and economic resilience.
The
Department stated that this initiative is aimed at supporting subsistence
farmers and agricultural workers across the province.
