Operation Shanela Yield Succcess

Police have arrested 325 individuals for a range of crimes, including robberies, murder, rape, housebreakings, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, illegal immigration, and illicit mining, among others, during Operation Shanela.

The disruptive actions, aimed at combatting crime, began on Monday, 3rd March 2025, and concluded on Sunday, 9th March 2025.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane stated that the operation focused on intensified crime prevention and enforcement to tackle criminal activities across the province. With more boots on the ground, Operation Shanela remains committed to addressing priority crimes. Shemane says the following:
