The department of social development currently engaging the public hearings on the policy on social development services to persons with disabilities

The department of Social Development launched its Public Hearings on the Policy on Social Development Services to Persons with Disabilities this year in May. The department provides in a statement that the purpose of the Public Hearings is to encourage the inclusion of persons with disabilities in decision making. In addition hereto the deputy minister of social development Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu also provided that the provisions of this policy are geared towards accelerating access to a comprehensive and responsive social protection system as outlined in the National Development Plan; namely Vision 2030. Following the launch in May this year there have been four public hearings out of the planned 27 conducted thus far in Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal and today the department is engaging the community of Upington at the Protea Hotel.
