The department of social development extent a helping hand to the flooded areas in the namaqua district

The department of Social Development in the Northern Cape activated their first responders to the disaster stricken areas in the Namakwa district area on Saturday 1 July 2023. This follows recent floods in the area caused by heavy rainfall caused damage and blockages to roads and have left residents stranded and some incapable of leaving their residential areas such as the residents of Buffelsrivier. According to an official statement by the department, the MEC Nontobeko Vilakazi visited Buffelsrivier yesterday where they had delivered food and other essentials to about 240 households. The department further adds that other necessities such as baby clothing, milk formula, cereal, diapers and water were also dispatched to the area. Vilakazi and her team also visited different households in the area to offer support.
