William pescod high school receives new state of the art sports facility

The handover ceremony of the new state of the art multi-purpose sports centre for the William Pescod High School in the Frances Baard municipal area was officiated in Kimberley on Thursday. It is reported that this facility will allow access to the community and schools of Florianville, Ashburnham and surrounding areas of Kimberley to engage in different sport codes ranging from tennis, netball, basketball, hockey and soccer as well as wellness and recreational programmes. According to a statement by the provincial government this donation was made by the Multichoice Group, in the presence of the Executive Chairman of the group Imtiaz Patel. The premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, together with the MEC of Sports, Arts and Culture, Desery Fienies, MEC for Education, Zolile Monakali and the MEC for the Department of Youth, Women, People with Disabilities, Communications and E-Governance, Venus Blennies, were also in attendance during the handover. In addition to the sports centre sporting attire was also handed over to three high schools namely William Pescod, Floors sand Homevale High Schools. The Northern Cape Provincial Government extended their gratitude for the donation and reiterates that it’s only through public-private partnerships like these that government can truly better the lives of the people of the Northern Cape.
