The MEC responsible for Cooperative Governance Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Bentley Vass will be launching water tank trailers for fire fighting in Kimberly on tuesday 27 June 2023. According to a statement by the spokesperson of the coghsta Babalwa Mzambo the reason for launching these water tank trailer is because the Northern Cape is prone to disaster and veld fires which in the past have caused much damage to farming areas. They also add that with the winter season being upon us a lot of informal households are experiencing fires caused by candles and or other means of keeping warm. The department says that they have procured 26 water tank trailers for all 26 local municipalities in order to help with fire-fighting in the local areas.
