The suspect sentenced to 12 years imprisonment

The De Aar regional court handed down a 12 year direct imprisonment to a 28 year old man Anthony Hector for damage to essential infrastructure today. Police spokesperson sergeant Timothy Sam says the court heard that on the said day the accused who was spotted inside the Transnet yard by a security officer, tried to ward off the security officer with a knife and had to call the police for assistance with the arrest on the first December 2022. Sam says provincial police noted the escalation of the theft of ferrous and non ferrous metals and this conviction is a direct result of meticulous police investigations. The Pixley Ka Seme district commissioner major general Nomana Mtukushe says efforts will continue unabatedly to address this crime and to ensure that perpetrators committing these crimes will feel the full might of the law.
