The Northern Cape has recorded a decrease in a number of categories of crime

The Northern Cape provincial government has called on all communities to continue working with the police, to ensure that together, we build safer communities. The Northern Cape has recorded a decrease in a number of categories of crime and this was revealed during the release of the crime statistics for the fourth quarter of 2022/23. sexual offences have decreased by 1.6% while sexual assault had decreased with 6.0%, rape by 3.7%, murder with 10.5%, and assault with the indent to do grievous bodily harm with 13.2% and common robbery with 4%. The announcement was made when Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul joined the Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Otola, for the release of the Provincial Crime Statistics for Quarter 4 of 2022/23. During his remarks, Premier Saul expressed concern over the increase in serious and violent crimes and has called on the police to double their efforts in fighting crime.
