The South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF) has announced its national teams for the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) and the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), which will compete in these prestigious competitions against students worldwide. The 2023 Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad is currently taking place in Rwanda from 13 to 22 May 2023, and the country is represented by 6 learners from different schools while the International Mathematics Olympiad takes place in Japan from 2 to 13 July 2023. This while a group of learners from Carnarvon High School in the Karoo, Northern Cape, jetted off to Morocco last night to represent South Africa in an International Robotics Competition scheduled for the today until Sunday 21 May 2023. The Robotics Schools Program, also known as the LEGO Schools Program, is organized under the auspices of the "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology (FIRST) LEGO League", which is aimed at challenging learners to think like scientists and engineers. The Robotics Schools Program is managed by the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), a national facility of the National Research Foundation.
