From November 22 to 26, 2024, a provincial delegation headed by Premier Dr. Zamani Saul is visiting Doha, Qatar. According to a government statement, the delegation includes senior government officials such as the MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Venus Blennies-Magage, Thami Mabija, Head of the Department; and Shawn Modise, Acting CEO of the Northern Cape Economic Development Agency. They are joining delegations from the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, led by Premier Kgosientsho Ramokgopa. According to information, this working visit aims to finalize discussions with Qatar's Ministry of Energy regarding potential investments in strategic green hydrogen projects within the country. The delegation will present key initiatives poised to enhance the provinces' economies, generate employment, and produce energy, including the Saldanha SEZ Green Hydrogen Project in the Western Cape, the Boegoebaai Green Hydrogen Project in the Northern Cape, and the Hive Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen Project in the Eastern Cape.
