The 40-year-old Jan Jakobus Louw, a 40-year-old man,
has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Prieska Regional Court for the
murder of 36-year-old Klaas Haas. The incident occurred on November 28, 2021,
at Haas's home in Malva Street, Prieska.
According to reports, Louw went to
Haas's house and invited him outside for a fight. It is reported that when Haas opened the door to
step out, Louw stabbed him in the chest with a knife, resulting in his death at
the scene. The court found Louw guilty of murder and declared him unfit to
possess a firearm. The prosecution and investigation teams, led by Advocate
Cornelia Deetlift and Detective Warrant Officer Marshall Bosman, secured the
conviction.
Major General Nomana Mtukushe,
Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, commended the investigation and
prosecution teams for their efforts. Mtukushe emphasized the police's
commitment to eradicating contact crimes and improving community services
through increased police visibility and community-centered policing.
