The Sol Plaatje University this past weekend on the 9 November 2024 hosted yet another edition of the Vice-Chancellor’s Cycle Challenge which according to the university again attracted 100 cyclists from across the province and beyond. Accoridng tot he university this year the event has garnered support from cyclists joining from as far as Gqeberha, Randburg, and Pretoria. The university says this cycling event serves as an effort to foster a culture of health, wellness and community engagement across all ages, and adds that this year the 5 km distance race was re-introduced which saw young riders from Laerskool Eureka and Newtown Primary also participating which further underpins the university's role in engaging the youth and promoting cycling as a lifelong pursuit.Â
