Police warn members of the community on swimming

Provincial police say they noted with concern tragic drowning incidents in the province involving children. Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam says community members are urged to implement or practice the following precautionary measures to ensure their safety when swimming or fishing to prevent drownings. These measures include not swimming in areas where the current is strong, never swimming while you are intoxicated, looking out for warning signs or flags indicating the area is dangerous for swimming, never leaving a young child unattended near water, and never making a child responsible for another child amongst others. Sam says says the following . . . ‘‘Insert’’ (MEASURES)
