Two Sentenced For Robbing Hitch Hitchhikers At Gun Point

The Springbok Regional Court in Garies sentenced Siphelo Mzamane to 20 years in prison, for robbery and possession of firearms. His co-accused, Nkosikhona Apols, received 15 years for robbery. The court acquitted Nkosinathi Apols of all charges. This followed after the three picked up two hitchhikers and later robbed them at gunpoint during a trip from Cape Town to Upington. The National Prosecuting Authority states that, it remains committed to ensuring justice and community safety.
