LAUNCH OF CHILDREN’S BOOK: LIFE AND TIMES OF DR KATRINA ESAU GOLDEN GIRL

The book Golden Girl tells the story of Dr. Katrina Esau, who is one of the last people who grew up speaking the N!uu language. It is a children's book that aims to teach young children about the importance of Dr. Esau's work. The Northern Cape government is supporting the book as part of its commitment to preserving endangered languages. The launch event for the book will be held on October 24, 2024, at Piet Thole Community Hall in Rosedale, Upington. In 2020, Dr. Esau was honored as a South African Living Human Legend for her knowledge and skills in preserving cultural heritage. In March 2023, the University of Cape Town recognized her lifelong commitment to preserving the N!uu Language by awarding her an Honorary Doctorate.
