GCIS in the ZF Mgcawu district in collaboration with the South African Police Service spoke to Radio Riverside this morning on gender based violence as a social ill which still negatively affects the community in an attempt to raise awareness on this matter. Sergeant Omphile Masegela at her turn gave an overview of the new interventions which are being implemented in the area as derived from the national strategic plan on gender-based violence as introduced by the interim steering committee:

In addition to the NSP the south African police in the area also have the community policing forum which is a body that does on the groundwork through awareness programs and community interactions to address crime in local areas. On behalf of the forum Clement Bayi spoke to Radio Riverside and at his turn says that the forum serves as a community effort where residents can become part of the forum, and each do their part to address social ills such as GBV and further elaborated on one such effort which they conducted in Riemvasmaak recently:
