A
newly launched vehicle restoration initiative aims to train automotive repair
professionals and foster entrepreneurship within the host communities of Sishen
Mine. The A-Z Collision Repair Programme, a four-month effort spearheaded by
Anglo American's Zimele in partnership with 3M and Super Auto Paints, offers
participants both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in automotive
repair. The program includes on-the-job training and mentorship focused on
essential business principles relevant to the panel beating industry. The
initiative has attracted 20 participants, all beneficiaries of Zimele funding,
who either work for panel beating businesses or operate their own small vehicle
repair services. According to Ernest Meas, project lead and Zimele hub manager,
the program goes beyond mere vehicle repair; it aims to rebuild livelihoods.
This training equips participants with crucial skills, transforming challenges
into opportunities and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth in the
region.Â
