Various male and female rugby teams from universities across the country will convene today for a weekend of rugby during the University Sport South Africa Rugby 7s Tournament at Sol Plaatje University, as the latter will be playing host for the third consecutive year. Kashini Maistry, Acting Director: Institutional Advancement at SPU, states that they hope to see the SPU community and sports enthusiasts alike rally behind the hosting teams. Today, teams from the respective universities will register, followed by an opening ceremony that will set the stage for a weekend filled with high-intensity rugby matches. Tomorrow will see back-to-back games across multiple teams, culminating in the finals and a closing ceremony on Sunday, 22 September. Maistry indicated that regular updates, highlights, and results will be shared across SPU’s social media platforms.
