The National Consumer Commission (NCC) inspected suppliers of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in both the Northern Cape and Gauteng provinces.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) inspected suppliers of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in both the Northern Cape and Gauteng provinces. The NCC states that this was done to ascertain compliance with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). Phetho Ntaba, spokespersom for the National Consumer Commission says that the inspections were prompted by complaints and the Commissions drive to ascertain that suppliers of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods are compliant to the Consumer Act. Ntaba elaborates on the discoveries of non-compliance. Insert – Non – compliance Futhermore, Ntaba states that the commission will continue to monitor these suppliers, as they have also been informed of the obligation that they have towards the Consumer Protection Act. She says that expired goods needs to be removed from the shelves. Ntaba made the follow call to consumers. Insert - Consumers In the Northern Cape, the NCC collaborated with officials from the Northern Cape Consumer Affairs Office, Environmental Health Practitioners from the Municipal Health Services, the Department of Home Affairs, South African Police Services, as well as the Community Policing Forum.
