Worms spotted in Warrenton water

Concerned residents in Warrenton was without water and then worms appeared when the supply was restored only on Monday. The water supply has been erratic and while residents of Vaalblok and Warrenvale are grateful to have water flowing from their taps, they were also disgusted by the presence of worms in the water. THE PATRIOTIC Alliance (PA) in the Northern Cape clarified on to send water samples for testing after thin, bright-red worms were spotted wriggling in the water. PA MPL Rashad Jaffer stated that he took samples from the taps and local reservoir after receiving numerous complaints from residents about the putrid condition of their drinking water. Residents also showed distress over more service delivery issues such as the raw sewage running down the streets. Magareng DA councillor Willem Potgieter said he had not received further complaints after the municipality had decontaminated the reservoir and added chlorine to the water on Wednesday. He further added that work was proceeding in repairing and upgrading the bulk water pipeline after floods damaged the pipes last year.
