Due to an engaging series of meetings with the Sol Plaatje municipality and the District Municipality to formulate an immediate intervention to address the service delivery backlogs and challenges, The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley has implemented a system where Kimberley residents can submit accurate water meter readings themselves for billing. The municipality established a partnership with MeterMo, in creating this new mobile app to capture real time meter readings. This is indeed an effort to reduce the R2.3 billion that Kimberley and Ritchie residents allegedly owes the municipality in outstanding rates for water, electricity and refuse collection.
